I've never heard of Bookcrossing. Must check it out.

You touched on something in your post which is my favorite thing about blogging and the internet. The ability to get to know people all over the globe, people that you would have never had access to with out a computer.

I come from an area which is rather homogeneous (very little immigration and most from an English background, if they even know their background) so I really enjoy visiting the world via my computer.

This is my first "trip" to Singapore, but I'm enjoying it so far!!

Ahh so, ee-chan ;)
I forgot which nickname you hate to be called. Personally I think ee is cute LOL. No, I haven't read Soul Mountain. I saw One Man's Bible by Gao Xingjian at the bookstore but didn't pick it up. Looks heavy to me, with his title as Noble prize winner. I probably will pick up his book some time in the future.

おはいよぢおにちゃん。おげんきですか？

okay that's all i can do now and its prob wrong :p I am too impatient to hold my holiday off til I learn the language, so wow I really admire your patience!! :O

Japanese seems a lot easier than Mandarin, no intonation which is what really screws my (limited) Mandarin up.
