I don't think I can participate in all of them, to be honest. But it's still fun to try.
Yes I believe my secret weapon would be useful this read-a-thon *evil laugh*

I haven't read both Dracula and Frankenstein. The more I think about it the more I'm sure I won't be able to read Dracula this month. I might just schedule it for next year! And Frankenstein the year after that :)

Mee, I can't believe all the challenges you are participating in--wow! Of course, the Japanese literature challenges are perfect for you because of your interest in Japanese culture. (I laughed about your "secret weapon" for the Read-a-thon.)

Thank you very much for the terrific award! : )

It sounds like a fun few months for you :) I'm reading Frankenstein (and possibly Dracula if I can find the time!) and I'd love to take part in the readathon but I don't think it'll be possible :(

I'm not sure if you should read of watch the movie first. I'd say read. The book is better and less graphic than the movie.

I've never heard of Katherine Mansfield before. I should check out her works some time. Thanks for the mention.

Hell yeah I have graphic novels too! ;) Best of Mutts looks so cute! I think I've seen it before but slipped my mind. I'm sure you'd enjoy Persepolis. I saw Coraline the movie the other day which was pretty good, but I think I'm gonna skip the book for now. I read The Graveyard Book earlier this year though, which was my first Neil Gaiman's book. Short stories would be great for read-a-thon! I'm gonna prepare some selections too!

ps: I'm still not sure if I can finish the Woman in White in time. I'll see how much I can go in the next couple of weeks.

LOL I get a bit exhausted by everything that's going on too! I decided to skip on Collins' Classics Circuit because no way I am going to make that. I would have loved to join with The Moonstone though :(

Like you I am a slow reader. My trick for the read-a-thon is to pile up some graphic novels! Great for variety. yesterday was a first: Gnoe buying some graphic novels :) I followed your advise and chose Persepolis! Alongside with The Best of Mutts and Coraline (reading so much *about* Neil GaimanI could not resist when I saw a copy in the bookshop). I have also set aside a really short book (in Dutch, that helps as well ;) and Ishiguro's new book of short stories: Nocturnes. I can't wait!

I'm joining in the read-along and the Hello Japan challenge; for the challenge this month I will be reading (and potentially watching) Battle Royale for the first time so glad to hear that you gush about it.

Mr Pip is a very good book, for future reference, and personally for NZ literature I don't think you can beat Katherine Mansfield's short stories.
