Andersen's stories tend to be bleak, aren't they? I kinda just realized it after I grew up.

Beauty and the Beast is a favorite of mine if only for that goooorgeous library, and I love The Little Mermaid a lot too - not a big fan of the original story. Anderson's women always seem to die unpleasantly...

I love all things Disney. I have a Lion King cushion on my bed, my penstand is 101 Dalmatians, my favourite t'shirt has Eeyore on it, and my favourite pair of pjs has Tinkerbell.

However, my favourite movie has to be Toy Story... although, I loved Lion King as well. But, Toy Story - I don't know why, but it's my all-time feel good movie.

I'm going to do this challenge - it would be wrong not to.

That's an interesting view Suko. I have personally never felt the racism, because I watch the movies as tales that happen somewhere far far away, so it's understandable that the people wouldn't look like me and act like me. Also, no matter how much they change the characters to resemble Chinese (Mulan) or Indian (Jasmine, Pocahontas), they still act, think, and talk like Americans -- which is understandable too since that's where the makers are from and it's their main target audience.

I can understand how the other races of Americans probably feel if the characters never look like them in those movies. Close and yet far away. There's the feeling of not being included, not only by the movies, but also by the countless merchandise and everything else that come with the movies. But for me, I'm never really in that circle. I enjoy the tales and the movies, but never wanted to be any of the princesses. Never had the need to have the dolls or the costumes, and I never even went to Disneyland (even if I do, it'd still be in the land somewhere far far away :)

Also, my favorites of all Disney is Donald Duck & co series. They're animals so I don't mind the ducks being white lol.

I am a fan of Disney, and associate many of the movies with the days when my kids were very young. My son loved Beauty and the Beast and we'd watch it all the time. We also liked to watch many others--I'm not sure if I have a favorite. It's interesting how Disney movies have changed over the years, and have thankfully become less racist.
