They’re lucky that Harry is never described as tall in the book, only Ron (and the movie Ron grew up tall). And Ginnie looked like a giraffe compared to Harry in the movie! You can see that even in the poster above, they had to make Harry stood back so he would look at least as tall as everybody else (look at their feet). I’m gonna stop now LOL.

For the nomination, I’m glad that you’re happy about it. I’ve been following your blog for quite a while and love it! :)

LOL – I whispered that to my teen son: “Doesn’t Harry look short?” He snickered about it – and we kept elbowing each other for the rest of the movie. Poor guy… they had no idea when they originally cast him that he would end up short.

I, too, would have liked to see more, but I think they did as well as they could. I’m definitely more displeased with other HP movie cuts.

Oh gosh I hate to ruin it for you, but there isn’t anything about Voldemort’s parents in the movie. I was really bummed. It’s probably one of my favorite parts from book 6. And why was the movie only 3D for the first 15 minutes? That kinda sucks.

My Wife, 11 and 13 year old daughters and I saw Harry Potter 5 in an Imax theater, which really gets you into the move. The first 15 or so minutes of the movie were even in 3D.

I would have loved to see how the movie would treat the meeting and relationship of Lord Valdemore’s father and mother.

susan: Thanks! It is a slow read, isn’t it? So it’s not just me. It’s probably the first book I read that’s set in Detroit. I had absolutely no idea about the place (apart from the name).

I haven’t seen the last few HP movies, but I know what you mean. I decided after the second one that they are slideshows for people who already read the books and want to see some of scenes brought to life. No matter how they cut it, they can’t put in everything like they can with a shorter book such as “The Secret Life of Bees”.

My 12-year-old daughter went to the midnight opening of the new HP movie with some friends. Guess who got to pick them up at 3 AM? I didn’t really mind, though, it was quite an event–they’ll always remember it.
