Persepolis is a bit lighter in nature. The shorter ones: The Arrival by Shaun Tan, Ethel & Ernest by Raymond Briggs. Series to recommend: Fables by Bill Willingham, Bones by Jeff Smith. I posted reviews for all of them (you can use the search function for quick retrieval). The first three books I mentioned are all 5 stars for me!
