02.Dec.2008 Bye Dewey

Just read a shocking news from Dewey’s website: The Hidden Side of Leaf. She passed away. The husband wrote. Apparently she’s been unwell for a while.

I just realized that this is the first time that I experienced a blogger’s death that affected me. As in, I’m truly sad to hear it, and in shock. I never knew Dewey personally, but I do drop by her website quite often. She’s one of my favorite book blogger for her neat website, with a lot of interesting events and challenges. I participated in her 24 read-a-thon event. I followed the Bookworm Carnival and I read the Weekly Geeks events all over the blogosphere, though never participated. I joined her Martel-Harper challenge.

If you think about it, it’s odd that a life of someone you never personally know or meet, could impact you in one way or another. Someone somewhere at the other part of the world. Far far away. The power of internet and its impact to people. It does make me wonder what would happen to my blog if I suddenly die today. Will my loved ones post something here?

Hope the family is well. Feel like we have lost one of the most important book bloggers. She will be truly missed. Bye Dewey… :’(
