Summary of A Long Week

We’ve been really bored in the office these past few weeks. Don’t ask why we don’t have work. We’re in the transition of going to the next project, and apparently the programmers suffer the ultimate boredom the most. The artists could at least help out the other team. So these are some of the things we do (in a sequential order):

1) We got a bunch of kids’ cards (the ones they usually collect and exchange with friends) the other day from Nickelodeon. I started putting the good ones on the wall and TV with blue-tack. My colleagues were more interested collecting the rubbish card (with Elizabeth Nelson’s picture on it - whoever the girl is) then start throwing them around.

2) So for the next week or so, they’ve been trying to teach me to throw cards. It’s just impossible for me. Every time I throw the card, it just flies hopelessly a few centimetres from my hand. (A few metres is the goal here). I got the lesson every day after about 4-5 pm. With zero progression up until now.

3) My project manager was a bit concerned about the training. So one day he sent soft copy of a book about The Secret Techniques of Throwing Cards to us. He heard that the original book costs so much in Ebay nowadays. It’s supposed to be a very RARE book. From there the guys learnt other techniques to use card as weapon (such as boomerang), while I continued my first lesson endlessly. We also found a technique that somehow requires this woman in the picture to be naked and position the card close to her tits to do it.

4) Tired with my (almost no) progression of throwing cards, the guys decided that they wanted to make me feel better. So they made some paper planes for me to throw. Person who makes the plane that I throw the farthest win. One thing led to another, they started to build more complicated planes with the secret techniques of folding paper (or we often call origami). There are tons on the web that they could learn from. I even got a seagull, rose, and turtle! I’m gonna bring some colour papers on Monday. We could probably make a bouquet of roses, complete with stems! And I can put it next to my Spongebob pillows.

5) I haven’t told you that we got this giant inflatable hammer in the office now. (We actually got a real cricket bat before, but people have been abusing it and broke a couple of things in the office, my project manager got upset, so my friend took it back home. But it doesn’t keep us from bringing inflatable hammer, does it?!) Anyway, after that one of us threw the plane and the other waited at the other end with the giant hammer. The person with giant hammer would then try to hit the paper plan as dramatic and as hard as possible. They could also continue hitting the plane even if it has landed. The key here is to be dramatic.

There goes my week. I will keep you informed.

PS: My friend took a video of me in action with his mobile phone. It’s such a shame you can’t see it. Complete with the animated gestures, sound, and all.

Mobile phone with built-in video camera.. $300
Inflatable giant hammer.. $10
Paper plane.. $0.005
Video of your colleague hitting paper plane with giant hammer dramatically to take out the steam.. PRICELESS ;D

The Dog Names Mee

I GOT IT!

Blue DS
Labrador
The name’s MEE ;)

I need to rest my throat. I’ve been yelling to teach my dog tricks. She doesn’t listen.

A few people in my office got Nintendogs too. We play together every day now. The others that don’t have them play with our dogs even longer.

The 100 Riddles of Doom

Try these 100 chained Riddles.

Warning: It is highly addictive. You may find yourself attached, curse all the way through, and yet cannot resist to just walk away and leave.

Some people here in my workplace had been playing it for days. It’s just impossible to stop! The good thing about the forum is that they only allow hints and not direct answers. So you can go there anytime you’re stuck (which will be quite often) without feeling guilty or silly.

I almost got to the 100 levels. I love it the most when I could fly through some levels and my friends were left behind. It’s good feeling to kick some guys’ ass hehee

For some people, do you remember my very first website a few years ago, where I had this similar game, with chain of clues across the website that guide you to the final “treasure”? (Of course mine had only 3 riddles while this has tons, and you pretty much had to know my website inside out to find them. But it’s a good memory anyway ;)

My Next Wishlist

is a (coloured) Nintendo DS and a Nintendog. Both come on the 22nd of September to Australia.

Nintendo DS

Nintendogs

Do you guys think I should get the Cosmic Blue or Mystic Pink?
(I used to hate pink colour, but somehow lately I grow to like it. Perhaps it’s because I don’t resist so much to being a girl and feel I don’t have to pretend I hate pink to fit in with the guys anymore. Because I’ve grown up, see.)

Nintendogs

“Nintendogs lets owners choose a puppy from one of 18 breeds, then raise and train the pup. The pet simulation uses sophisticated artificial intelligence to produce incredibly realistic and adorably cute puppies that respond to voice commands and petting on the touch screen. Owners can teach their puppies new tricks, compete in obedience trials and agility trials or compete in flying disk competitions. Successful trainers earn money and trainer points to use to buy additional breeds, new toys and accessories. Nintendogs is the pet for people who can’t have the real thing.” ~ taken directly from Nintendo Australia

It makes me remember Tamagotchi. My brother and I had a few before. I can’t remember how many. There were chicken (or something resembles it), penguin, dinosaur, alien. Each can evolve differently, depends on how you take care of them. It beeped every hour or so, asking for food, attention, game, or cleaning. If you just leave it, it can die.

It was so popular back then, we couldn’t bring them to school (well it obviously can be distracting), so my dad would take care of them while we’re away. We got bored with it pretty quickly, but not my dad. So there was a time when he had a few tamagotchis on his hand, and was so busy feeding them and stuff. He carried them everywhere all the time far long after my brother and I stopped playing. Can you imagine?

The End

I didn’t know that the end of project could be so uneventful.
Even my blog is uneventful as a result.
Can’t wait to start a new project.
