Spelling Sin

Spelling and grammar mistakes always somehow bother me. So when I find in code that particle becomes partical, cafetaria becomes cafeteria, yes they annoy me alright.

I don’t want to be a spelling police, but really guys, when you get unofficial message that from now on available would be spelled avalible, I really really feel like going through every elements with this unforgivable sin and purify them. When one person comes up with one mistake, everyone else practically has to follow his path, unless you want to trace back every element, fix them over, or ask people to do it. And that doesn’t even guarantee that it won’t happen again the day after. Sigh.. Just let it go Dee, just let it go.

The Last One To Go

RevolutionOne day after PS3 big news, Nintendo came up with the Revolution. (I just didn’t post it yesterday)

It’s weird to see how the three consoles have somewhat similar design. Metalic, thin, and vertically stand-able. As if they all shared and brainstormed throughout the design process. Or at least have the same source of idea. I miss the GameCube design (below). It’s so chubby and cute. You can imagine what kind of games played in this machine. With this new design, I kinda feel like I loose the connection.

GameCube

For those who don’t know, Nintendo’s console is the last of the BIG three. Currently, the first place is held by Sony with PS2, then Microsoft with XBox, and last place goes to GameCube of Nintendo. That’s it. No other :)

All three next-gen consoles talk about online capabilities. There you go. The future is all online.

As predicted, the Revolution’s specs is not as “shinny” as the other two. But Nintendo always has a piece of heart of every gamer. So I think they would survive alright, as long as they play the cards right.

Another thing that Nintendo revealed, was Game Boy Micro. A small version of Game Boy SP. Just a little bit bigger than IPod Mini! Mhh.. weird product… Can you imagine how small that is?

Console War

PS3Lo and behold! The console war has begun!

One day after Microsoft officially revealed XBox 360, Sony came up with Play Station 3.

And that, my friend, also officially made my yesterday’s comment old and expired. Audiences have got what they want. Now let’s see who ends up with victory, while all of us getting excited (and poorer).

I like the XBox 360 design more, but would love to touch that PS3 controller. In a glance, PS3 specs sounds cool. One cell processor is almost twice faster than 3 XBox processors! How this applies in real world though, is another different story. XBox development kit is much easier, PS2 has always been such a beast. We’re talking about assembly here! But at the end, personally for me, games are everything. System is just a tool to achieve the end goals. Give me what I want! Give me jaw-dropping games, goosebumps all over, and ultimate enjoyment! Then we’ll talk ;)

I Have to Make A Comment On This

XBox 360
Okay, everyone is talking about the next generation console XBox 360, that I would feel guilty not to say anything on this topic.

In the past few weeks, that is the only thing everyone in gaming industry is talking about. The next XBox, next-gen consoles, the specs, the design, the secrets, the leaked secrets, the competitors (Sony, Nintendo), yada yada yada.

It’s a lie if I say I’m not at all interested. After all, it’s a big thing going on, especially for us the game makers. New console means a whole new library, development kit, and a whole new system to work on, test on, and be frustated about.

So interested, yeah. Curious, yeah. Keeping up with the information, yeah. But to buy? No way. I’m a big fan of Japanese games. And just admit it, US console games suck. MS dudes need to work harder to compete with the Japanese weirdos. Right now, I would rather wait for Sony and Nintendo to reveal the real thing. I know they’re just waiting for the big-head new comer to finish bragging, before they step up leanly, taking over the playground back.

Why Meexia?

Well, it felt a bit worn off to use Yume (my nickname for a few years). Moreover, the domain has been taken. ;)

Since Yume is also the name of the first complete character I ever created. I moved on to the second one, names Meecha. But guess what, Meecha is also taken. By a cat, well the owner of. A cat named Meecha.

So after a few twidlings of the word, I ended up with meexia.

I’m pretty happy about it actually. After a while, I used google to search for meecha, and the top results returned a porn model, with screen nickname Meecha! Hah! Not to mention about hundreds of other sites returned. When I entered meexia as keyword, it returns very few results, of which all were the one I use in other websites. So it’s pretty much one of a kind =9

Also, don’t you think Meexia Entertainment sounds good for a company name? hehe..

Let Two Become One

Okay, initially I wanted to seperate this blog and my other blog - the dreamygamer. Why is there a need to seperate them? Tell me about it. You know how it is. Sometimes you like to be bubbly, other times a lone wolf. Sometimes emotional, other times skeptical. Sometimes a cool girl, other simply a geek. You don’t know what it’s like? Okay. So it’s just me then.

It crossed my mind, is it that bad to openly say you’re a gamer? I mean, it’s really so easy to be crazily interested in games within our own (read: gamer) community. All gamer co-workers, gamer friends, gamer bloggers, gamer forums, gamer sites, and so on. So it probably annoyed me a little bit, to realize that most of the people outside this almost exclusive society just don’t have a clue, and frankly, don’t give a damn, about what we treat as our daily interests (obsessions?), activities, and passion, called games. So yeah, it takes some boldness to go out of the closet, and proudly say “I’m a gamer”, with the risks of getting either a confuse look or a symphatetic smile, as if I wasn’t quite happy as a child and therefore continue to be one until now.

You’d be surprise at how many people still see games as boys toys, rather than a form of art and entertainment.

Anyway, I was writing something a while ago, when I started considering which blog I should put it in. I thought, Oh crap. I’m really really not willing to spend time every now and then thinking which blog my thoughts should fall into. So let’s make this easy for both you and me :)

See, I’m a gamer. In fact, I make living by making games. So yeah, I’ll be talking about games a LOT, but I will also talk about other things. I can see why a lot of people have multiple blogs. I guess it’s more because of the audiences. How one topic is interesting to some, and not so much for others. Also, at times you like some of your worlds to not collide for whatever reasons. Afraid that one can wreck another? I’ll ignore all that for now. If you choose to come here, you just have to accept all the crap I write :) and I will get used to the variety of people reading. Do we have a deal?

It’s Not Always As It Is

I learn that one’s freedom could be another’s inattentiveness.
One’s treasure could be another’s junk. And vice versa.
